(A) Related to seeking grant of recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education for starting/ conducting a teacher training programme.

Eligibility : a society/Trust/Body registered under Society’s Registration Act, a Govt. institution.
Pre-requisites : an institution desirous of seeking recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education for starting/ conducting a teacher training programme, should have adequate land in its own name either on ownership basis free from all encumbrances or on lease basis for a period of not less than 30 years on the date of application.

Application fee : the fee towards the cost of application form is Rs.1000/- and it is to be paid in the form of a bank draft from a Nationalized Bank, drawn in favour of the Member Secretary, NCTE and payable at the city where the Regional Committee is located.
Other fees : Application processing fee is Rs.40,000/- to be paid in the form of a Demand Draft from a nationalized bank drawn in favour of the Member Secretary, NCTE.
Application form: the application is to be submitted in the prescribed application form obtainable from the office of the Regional Committee or can be downloaded from the NCTE website www.ncte-in.org.
List of enclosures/ documents :

Processing fee of Rs.40,000/- in the form of a crossed demand draft.
Copy of approved building plan.
Fixed deposit receipt in original for Rs.5.00 lacs towards endowment fund.
A copy each of the Certificate of Registration, Memorandum of Association and Bye-laws in case the institution is managed by a Society/ Trust/Board.

Is it necessary to seek recognition from NCTE for starting a teacher training programme?	Yes. After coming into force of the NCTE Act,1993 it is mandatory for an institution to seek recognition from the NCTE for starting/conducting a teacher training programme. Otherwise, as per the provisions of the Act, the degree in teacher education shall not be considered as a valid degree for the purpose of employment under the Central Govt., any State Govt. or University, or in any school, college or other educational body aided by the Central Govt. or any State Govt.
What is the procedure for seeking grant of recognition from NCTE for starting/ conducting a teacher training programme?	This has already been explained in this booklet. Further details can be obtained from the office of the Regional Committee or the NCTE website.
From where can I get the application form?	A copy of the application form can be obtained from the office of the Regional Committee or can be downloaded from the NCTE Website.
What is the cost of the application form?	Rs.1000/- to be paid in the form of a Demand Draft from a nationalized bank.

What will happen if all the documents are not submitted along with the application form?	The application shall not be considered for further processing.

What should I do if my application seeking grant of recognition is rejected?	If your application seeking grant of recognition is rejected by the Regional Committee by an order passed under Section 14, 15 or 17 of the NCTE Act, you can prefer an appeal against such an order to the Council (NCTE Headquarters at New Delhi) in a prescribed format alongwith a fee of Rs.10,000/-.
What should I do before taking admission in a teacher training programme run by an institution?	You should first verify from the NCTE website www.ncte-in.org or from the office of the Regional Committee concerned as to whether the institution has been granted recognition by the NCTE for conducting the teacher training programme.
How can I know the status of recognition of a teacher training course of an institution?	You can get the status of recognition of an institution for conducting a teacher training programme from the NCTE website or you can contact the office of the Regional Committee concerned.
