New Delhi, the  23rd August, 2005

 

F.91-1/2005/NCTE/N&S.  In exercise of the powers conferred under Section (d)(i) of the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993, the Council hereby makes the following regulations to amend further the National Council for Teacher Education (determination of minimum qualifications for recruitment of teachers in schools) Regulations, 2001, as amended vide National Council for Teacher Education (determination of minimum qualifications for recruitment of teachers in schools) (amendment) Regulations, 2003, notified on 29.05.2003, namely :-

 

1.     Short title and commencement

 

(i)                These Regulations may be called the National Council for Teacher Education (determination of minimum qualifications for recruitment of teachers in schools) (amendment) Regulations, 2005

(ii)              They shall come in to force on the date of their publication in the official Gazette.

 

2.  Extent of Amendment

 

In the first schedule to the National Council for Teacher Education (determination of minimum qualifications for recruitment of teachers in schools) Regulations, 2001, item No. I & II relating to minimum academic and professional qualifications for pre-school / nursery (for children in the age-group for 4-6 years) and pre-school/ nursery followed by first two years in a formal school, shall be substituted by the following :-

 

Level

Minimum academic and professional qualifications

I.                   Pre-school/ nursery (for children in the age group of 4-6 years)

 

(i)                Secondary school (class ten) certificate or its equivalent; and

(ii)              Diploma / certificate in pre-school teacher education programme of a duration of not less than one year, or B.Ed. (nursery).

 

 

II.                 Pre-school/ nursery followed by first two years in a formal school.

 

(For children in the age                    group of 4-6 and 6-8 years)

 

(i)                Senior Secondary School (class twelve) Certificate or Intermediate or its equivalent with at least 45% marks; and

(ii)              Diploma/ Certificate in Nursery Teacher Education Programme of a duration of not less than two years, or B.Ed. (nursery).
