![]() IT LITERACY : English Narration IT LITERACY : Hindi Narration The CD_ROM on IT Literacy has been developed by National Council for Teacher Education to help every teacher educator in the country in becoming IT literate and in-turn making each student of pre-service teacher education course IT Literate. This is a self-learning resource material, on a CD-ROM, that would help a person who has not used a computer before to get over the fear of it and to start using it in less than thirty minutes. The resource material has been presented in an interactive multi-media format with sections on hardware familiarization, usage of mouse and keyboard, sequence of steps to be followed for start-up and shutting down the system and the use of simple word processing software along with the interactive sessions on each of the input. It is expected that the user after achieving basic IT-Literacy would begin to explore on its own other features of standard software and contribute in making every child IT literate. The IT literacy CD-ROM, which is available in both Hindi and English narrations, can be effectively used for acquiring the basic information and technology skills. |
A New Education for A New IndiaLanguage: English
This multi-media presentation is an outcome of the Gnostic Center's work with over a 100 mainstream schools, colleges and teacher education institutions over the last four years. As Gnostic Center interacted with students, teachers and principals through talks and workshops, it was observed that in each institution there were people seeking for a holistic form of teaching and learning. It was also found that there was a search for models that would be in harmony with Indian as well as the modern ethos. To facilitate this process and to provide a catalyst for change the Gnostic Center organized a four-day educational conference for over 450 teacher educators, teachers and principals, in November 2000, titled |
Teachers as TransformersLanguage: Hindi The primary school teachers who have achieved extraordinary results in enrolment, retention and achievement without any formal support from outside can provide very useful leads for policy and institutional reform. The challenge before us is that instead of continuing with the conventional top-down approach to teacher education the time has come for attuning it to the experience of our teachers and for rooting it in the ground realities of our schooling system. Therefore, it was considered appropriate to find innovations directly from primary school teachers and understand their policy implications. The concept of Teachers as Transformers fits in well with learning from outstanding teachers. The VCD, on the title, has been made with this objective only. The VCD contains the experiences of six primary school teachers representing the galaxy of teachers that are engaged in transforming their students. Through this programme the innovations and experiences of these teachers are being shared with teacher educators. |

is an important experiment in teaching of moral education and a vital tool for accomplishing the objectives of education. It aims at developing an integrated personality by bringing about the complete transformation in the character of the learner. It is based on the concept of making the education system fulfill the task of cultivating the qualities like self-discipline, tolerance, self-dependence, sense of responsibility etc. in the students. The role of teachers and teacher educators in this mission is of great significance. NCTE in its effort to provide resource material to teacher education institutions has produced this programme in VCD format. The 35 minutes programme contains lectures and "mudra" demonstrations from Muni Kishan Lal Ji, an eminent propounder of the concept. The objective behind the production of the above title is to train teacher educators in "Science of Living" so that human values can be cultivated in every child through them.
